A Party Worth Showing Up For

Race For Philanthropy is a Derby-inspired evening at Mission Farm built around an open bar, thoughtfully prepared food, live music, friendly competition, and the kind of company you’re glad to spend an evening with.
It is less about sitting through a fundraiser and more about moving through a party: seeing familiar faces, meeting new ones, enjoying the setting, and being part of an evening people will still be talking about afterward.
This is not a ticketed event. A small number of hosts, identified by Denver/Lake Norman Rotary, invite guests they genuinely enjoy sharing the evening with — people who naturally help shape its atmosphere.
Make sure you're part of the story.

Guests arrive to a setting that feels immediately relaxed — open air, warm light, conversation already underway, and plenty of room to settle in naturally.
From the covered pavilion to fireside gathering areas under the stars, the evening begins without much formality and quickly feels underway.
It feels less like arriving at an event and more like stepping into the evening already in progress.

Two house bars will serve throughout the evening, including one built inside a converted horse trailer.
Mint Juleps, wine, beer, and a full range of spirits keep the evening moving naturally from one gathering place to the next.
Yes, the food and bar are included.
Live music from Greenhouse Jazz Ensemble, conversation that moves easily, and the natural rhythm of the evening give Race For Philanthropy its character.
Some guests come dressed traditionally. Some push further. Some simply arrive comfortable and ready to enjoy the night.
All of it works.
Although the evening feels easy and social, what it supports is serious.
The Denver/Lake Norman Rotary Club works through the Denver/Lake Norman Rotary Club Foundation, Inc., its charitable giving arm, to provide grants and scholarships that help children thrive, support families during difficult moments, improve schools and community reso

The Denver/Lake Norman Rotary Club works through the Denver/Lake Norman Rotary Club Foundation, Inc., its charitable giving arm, to provide grants and scholarships that help children thrive, support families during difficult moments, improve schools and community resources, and strengthen the communities we call home.
Much of that work begins nearby and extends throughout Western North Carolina.
Guests will help determine live grant awards presented during the evening through secret ballot voting.
Four organizations identified for grant consideration will receive checks that night, with guests helping determine final award levels.
It is often the moment guests remember most clearly when the evening is over.
